Bart Bruni Master Thermographer. Infrared Building Inspections in Palm Beach Florida.

ABOUT BART BRUNI, MASTER THERMOGRAPHER

BART IS ONE OF OF THE FEW CERTIFIED MASTER THEMOGRAPHERS IN THE WORLD.

A pest control professional licensed in the State of Florida, he has been best known for his work with Formosan and Drywood termites and provided research data on insects to several chemical companies throughout the world.

It has been said “he was a pioneer in the development of thermal imaging to detect termites” and has authored several papers on the use of Thermography as a pest management tool. He is the owner of Bruni Infrared, Inc. located in North Palm Beach, Florida. Bruni Infrared has recently expanded the scope of their capabilities and opened a state of the art thermal drone division.

Bart Bruni, a South Florida resident since 1955, is a pioneering force in both the pest control and infrared thermography industries. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bart is the father of five and grandfather of six. His dedication to innovation, public safety, and environmental responsibility has earned him national recognition over a career that spans more than five decades.

After serving in a leadership role with Sears Termite and Pest Control, Bart went on to establish his own extermination business, where his early successes were built on knowledge, customer trust, and a bold willingness to challenge the status quo. Alongside his wife and partner, Harriet Bruni, Bart became a trusted industry consultant on the identification and treatment of invasive insects, with a particular focus on Formosan termites, one of the most destructive termite species in the Innovator of Non-Tenting Termite Control

In 1991, Bart’s alternative treatment for drywood termites was approved by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) and later adopted by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS). His non-tenting method offered a safer, more environmentally conscious solution, removing the need for toxic fumigants while providing proven results. This groundbreaking system remains one of the most well-known and widely respected termite treatment alternatives in the country.

Thermal Imaging in Pest Control

Bart’s reputation as an industry innovator grew even further in 2002 when he introduced infrared (IR) thermography into the pest control field. Initially used within his termite division, the technology quickly proved invaluable across a wide range of inspection and treatment scenarios. From detecting hidden moisture and nesting sites to locating heat signatures of pests and wildlife, IR became the backbone of Bart’s inspection approach.

Bart embraced thermal imaging not just as a tool—but as a scientific standard for accuracy and efficiency. His motto became: “If IR can be used, it will be used.” His IR-based inspection techniques have since been applied to everything from ants to rodents, even pythons.

Formosan Termite Specialist

Bart is widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading authorities on Formosan termite behavior, treatment, and elimination. His work includes field research, public education, and contributions to major chemical companies and governmental task forces. He has been directly involved in trials and studies that have shaped modern termite control techniques, especially for highly invasive species like the Formosan and conehead tree termites.

National Recognition & Industry Contributions

Bart’s groundbreaking work has been recognized on national platforms. He has appeared on the History Channel’s Swamp People series and National Geographic, where he deployed thermal drones to assist in python tracking operations across the Florida Everglades—listed on IMDB for the Swamp People Serpent Series on the History Channel.

He has authored five white papers, been published in numerous trade and scientific journals, and has presented at major industry conventions. His work has influenced everything from local pest control policies to global product development strategies.
